Scientific Conference “Advacnes in Translational Medicine” was held in Sofia on 7-9 November 2024 as part of a regular Annual meeting EATRIS-Bulgaria 2024. The event was organized by Sofia University under the patronage of the National Infrastructure “Cell Technologies in Biomedicine – INFRAACT” from the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Bulgaria. Intensive scientific sessions focused on advanced research in the field of cell reprogramming and the prospects for using stem cells and their products in the treatment of incurable diseases; innovative cell technologies such as bioprinting and 3D experimental models; the use of biotechnology, genomic profiling and biomarkers in translational research featured by famous international scientists as well as by Bulgarian scientific teams. Ethical, legal and social aspects related to biobanking of products of human origin and their use for translational medicine purposes were discussed in a joint session of the Bulgarian Nodes of BBMRI-BG Node and EATRIS-Bulgaria. The latest EU Regulations on storage and use of products of human origin, cryopreservation and biobanking of human stem cells in Bulgaria and others were presented.
Special attention was paid to the participation of young scientists to stimulate their interest and create sustainability in the development of this scientific field in Bulgaria and Europe. HAPLO-iPS CA21151 was presented by several researchers including the Action Chair Anna Veiga and representatives from the Junior Researchers Group like Leonardo Martin, Ying Chen and Anna Brymova.
